III) Collect primary source material from primarily Indigenous authors / artists within a peer review framework.
We are dedicated to builing not only our historical collection of sovereign rights materials, but also be at the forefront of new materials being published. Our collection covers everything from art works to research to audio/visual materials. The issue of sovereignty covers all aspects of Indigenous life and culture, from language in the form of spoken word to written to symbolism in art.
Indigenous Uprising is dedicated to serving the researchers and scholars who study and fight for Indigenous Sovereign Rights. We are especially dedicated to building a strong Indigenous voice in the scholarly world. When possible, we publish materials that would normally be overlooked or banished to obscurity in "unsteady" journals. Much of our material is only available through our database. We continue to work with other databases, libraries, archives and authors to access materials dealing with sovereignty in their collections. If unable to acquire important material for our database, we provide a description of the material and information on how to access this material.
We advocate for scholars on their behalf and work toward helping authors improve their writings. We have on staff archivists to help patrons find relevant information and utilize an online chat in order to help serve patrons around the world. Our network of peer reviewers is extensive and we work with Indigenous scholars to find reviewers in their field of study that will help them to create the best quality material available. We are dedicated to helping Indigenous scholars publish their work.
